Australia Post - No more Calling Cards - What to do?

Australia Post has already nearly completely phased out calling cards! These are the cards which are left at your address to let you know Australia Post attempted to deliver your parcel/s. Speaking to our Australia Post account manager, your local postie won't be leaving a calling card to say he tried to deliver your goods when you weren't home/available any more! Given our orders are signed for delivery, if you are not available you would need to head to the post office to sign for it. Sometimes authority to leave 'ATL' is an option, where you have given the courier the authority to leave the item for you, but only IF the postie believes there is a safe place to pop it! If there is no safe place, then again, it will go back to your local post office for collection.

So how do you know if they have attempted to deliver your parcel?
Unless you're hovering and constantly checking the tracking link for details, you won't know! (We still wish they used calling cards, believe us - and/or at least use them properly!)

The next best option is to download and use the AusPost app on your phone. This gives you more options and more visibility on your Australia Post delivered parcels. We only send out a tracking email when the order has been dispatched, and if it is going with Australia Post then we strongly suggest to have the app to track how it's travelling.

What happens if I don't track it, and I don't collect from the post office?
If your order stays at the post office for too long, it will be returned back to us as it's uncollected (we even get charged a return fee as well!). Because it's coming back to us, this will delay receiving your order even further, as it will take a number of days to travel back to us, and once its back, we would then need to re-charge the shipping costs to resend it out again (something we can all agree we don't want!). It really is important to head down to the post office ASAP. Essentially Australia Post is really leaving little option but to get the app, or check the tracking link frequently!

Head over to the app store on your mobile device, or Australia Post website to download the app
You can head over to Australia Post website, or your app store to download the Australia Post official app.

There are also more benefits to using the app then just tracking your deliveries, and I think the app will continue to offer more and improve further.
At the time of writing, these are some of the other benefits;

  • Manage your notification preferences
  • Access to view proof of deliveries/photos of where your parcel was left (if eligible)
  • Easy access to your MyPost and MyPost Business account
  • Sharing collection authority
  • Pay eligible bills with PostBill Pay
  • Pay for and print postage labels online (iOS only)
  • Find Post Office locations, opening times and postcodes

That’s the end of the blog! Thanks for your time.
